A special message from Master Jason.
My purpose is to help your child reach their potential.
I released the First Version to this program back in October 2010 - it was really rough around the edges.
New things, ideas, thoughts, creations tend to be that way.
It started as a service for my tiny little community in Folsom, CA, and I really didn't have a design for it other than to teach martial art skills and the life lessons I gained from my training.
But, I quickly realized that parents, like you, wanted something more. Something unique and valuable that you could pass on to your children and give them an experience that would last a lifetime.
So, between 2011 and 2015 I started to develop a confidence and concentration building system that allowed me to rapidly bond with and establish a rapport and relationship with a student who wants to make a change in their self-confidence, self-esteem, or self-image.
This is important, I say student because you might want this for your child, but it's still up to the young warrior to have the desire to transform their life.
The results I got from the program were through the roof (Jeff and Ashley's wild story can be seen below).
Jeff and Ashley Perez - Former Folsom, CA students, now training from Arkansas
Listen to what they say about how it changed their son, Lucas's, confidence, focus, and belief in himself to be his own person and develop his potential for the rest of his life.
Then, between 2015 and 2017 I began working on the second version of this system.
In 2019, I rolled out an experiment to a select number of families in my school to see if this strategy of teaching martial arts would be something any other families would be interested in learning and using with their child.
I wanted to validate whether parents would even want to put in the effort to really give their child something powerful.
I limited the number of families who I would take through this system and it filled up within a week.
I released this Second Version to them and it changed the dynamics of their relationship in ONE class.
More important than that, their child's confidence began to skyrocket.
The parents loved the system, but I still had some glitches I need to work out of the system before rolling it completely out.
The parents of that group helped identify some key things to adjust to make it work even better, so now as of 2020 there is a brand new updated Third Version to this that I'm excited to share with you.
I'm excited because you get to have the very best version that hundreds of other parents and students have completed and continue to grow with.
If not, don't worry.
It's actually a philosophy more than anything else.
It is a Japanese term that comes from an American philosophy that Edward Deming helped implement after World War II. It means to "change for the better" or "continuous improvement."
This constant and never ending improvement is the core value of what my program for your child stands on.
You start from where you are and work your way to where you want to be. This is simply a process of improvement by tiny margins.
Like 1% or 1 degree.
That's where a beginner can feel comfortable coming in and becoming a champion.
After being introduced to Lanny Bassham's book I quickly adopted it into the second version of my system sometime around 2012. It was a game-changer to say the least.
The way your child will gain confidence will be a process and it can either be quick or slow.
It is more like a process for learning a new language. The more you are immersed in it the quicker you pick it up.
But, the more you don't use it, the more you lose it.
So, consistently sticking to the process will be the key to success.
A second book that has become like a bible in my tool chest for improvement is Psycho-Cybernetics by Maxwell Maltz.
Don't let the title fool you.
He coined the term to mean “steering your mind to a productive, useful goal so you can reach the greatest port in the world, peace of mind.”
He was a plastic surgeon who began treating his patients with mental exercises rather than taking them under the knife. The New Psycho-Cybernetics is what I recommend for current readers today.
The objective is for my system to pierce past the conscious mind of your child to help them reach the hidden (subconscious) part of their mind and lay the foundation of a strong, positive self-image.
It's like getting The Power of Positive Thinking hardwired into your brain housing group and then it being locked in there forever.
It never goes away, it never fades, and it never can be deleted or written over.
That image - the powerful one they create through their training - is the rock they stand on the rest of their life.
The system I started to build had good bones.
But, like many old houses, there needs to be updates and improvements made in order for it to continue to provide value without falling apart.
That's where Mindset The New Psychology of Success by Carol Dweck came in and helped improve upon the system I started to develop.
It provides one of the backbones to coaching and parenting your child to bring out the champion and leader in them.
There's nothing worse than feeling like you are failing everyday as a parent (or coach in my case).
And, there is no "playbook" for parenting - as much as we want one.
Basically, you are figure this thing out as you go, but The Parenting Playbook for Confidence Building I put together for you in my weekly program gives you some powerful plays to help your child seriously improve their self-image for good.
Jessica Cisneros-Elliott, Folsom, CA
Listen to Jessica tell her story and experience of searching through nine different places before settling on Folsom Martial Arts Center and why this was the best option.
Muay Thai Boxing is The Art of Eight Limbs from the country of Thailand. That means the student gets to learn how to use their punches, kicks, knees, and elbows. This gives them a well-rounded self-defense skill from any bully who is trying to strike or kick them. In addition to this, Muay Thai Boxing also emphasis sweeps and take downs, so each student learns great balance and how to stay on their feet should a bully try to tackle them, slam them, or take them down to the ground. This is a great beginner-friendly style of martial arts because the student doesn't have to memorize patterns, forms, or sets of skills that are hard to remember and easily forgotten. We build upon their basics and foundation to help them become confident, strong, and effective. Even though this is a powerful martial arts style, safety and control is our number one rule in the classroom. This is an educational journey and not one where they simply learn to fight. Fighting is our last resort.
To allow for the BEST learning environment each student gets to be mentored through our classes with age-appropriate lessons which are broken out for 5-7 yr olds or 8-11 yr olds. You will immediately see the difference once you see how and what we do with each age-specific lesson. It is amazing to witness them develop quickly. Their confidence soars, their focus sharpens, and their athletic abilities sky-rocket.
When I was in the Marine Corps, being a leader meant that you attended "Leadership Training Courses." You had to learn how to lead people, this was critical to the mission. My mission here is to give you the best-in-class coaching for your child. I professionally train my coaches on leadership, coaching, teaching, instructing, and child development. I set our standards high for training which we do monthly.
Having a clearly defined plan and a detailed blueprint to achieve the desired outcome is one of our primary 5 star differences. We don't just hand out certificates or belts like candy. Everything here is earned for the student to learn to set goals, work towards them, be persistent, and achieve them. Each student gets to earn for character skills and physical skill development. With this clear plan in place it outlines the journey of achievement, like a roadmap to get your child to the desired destination. We also have a clear and defined reward and recognition system in place to help build self-motivation to be the leader and champion in their life. Being able to track this daily, weekly, and monthly like a report card will give your child a tangible outcome. We us a mixture for success: 70% character and life skills taught. The remaining 30% of their success will come from the physical development to gain a mind-body connection.
It is critical you know this about my weekly martial arts classes before you request a free class because this will be much different than most other activities you've ever done with your child.
This will be a learning environment for your child. We teach character skills and life lessons through the vehicle of martial arts. Yes, it is a great physical outlet, but it isn't just about the physical.
When I decided to teach everything virtual after closing down the tiny local school in Folsom, CA it was because the students were getting 3-5 times BETTER results online than when they were coming to me in person. They gain confidence faster and their self-esteem soars because 1.) They don't have to feel like others are watching and judging them. 2.) They don't get distracted by others in the classroom. And 3.) They get to spend the whole class time focused on improving their own skills without trading time with any other students.
This is a KEY difference of what makes BPK so powerful and why it's important for you to know. Parents become parent-coaches in this zoom class. There will be times during each of the training sessions that you get to hold pads, coach them through the drills, and help them be confident. I show everything on my side, but they do it on your side with you. This is super powerful because you can influence them way more than any other coach can.
We have a very specific way that helps your child's development both mentally and physically. We focus our efforts on encouraging and helping them build self-motivation through the desire to have a growth-mindset to do their best and believe in themselves always. This shows them how to overcome challenges, learn from adversity, and manage their fears.
Being in the right environment and taking a class with other children their age who are working toward the same goal helps them be nurtured through the process where they get to excel at their best. Kind of like a building block system we lay a foundation of focus and confidence so they develop the drive to want to be better. They quickly adapt to the process for success.
With a structured environment we use the power of process-driven learning to help teach their minds to grow and improve rather than focusing on winner or losers. They learn information in a different way other than "telling" them what to do. We understand the development of a child at this age and teach accordingly to help them succeed. They get to learn at their pace.
Every child learns at a different pace and in their own unique way. Some are social learners while others are solitude learners. Some prefer to self-learn while others prefer to learn with others. Some are very visual in-takers while others are more auditory in-takers.
However your child learns best, know that one learning style isn't better than the others. They can catch up on any level for any subject, skill, or talent.
The first time I read the book, I used to have the perspective that I was always behind because I didn't excel in school, or sports for that matter.
I simply liked to experiment (still do to this day) with various activities and felt this was a negative quality. Especially, when everything I've learned was about specialization is the key to success and life has to be played like a finite game principle.
Your child will never be behind and they will always catch up, just take some time and read Range by David Epstein and your whole world will change.
Thank you for taking the time to read about my virtual martial arts classes.
